Painter Tutorials on DVD

Back by popular demand, Painter tutorials on DVD. I've had so many requests in the past to bring them back and now they are here.
It took a while to get the designs in order and to find a distribution company worth working with.
I'm happy to say that the designs and the DVDs themselves are very nice, quality material. They look and function perfectly.
Thanks for reading!

Painter 11 Is Here!

Painter 11 Is Here!

And boasts around 40 new and improved features. One of which that is really turned me on is the improved speed by which Painter operates.

I know that when I an recording a tutorial, I use Camtasia to record and with the both of them running it is very hard on the CPU.

I just did get Painter 11 and am still checking things out.

But here are some of the new features of Painter 11:

New Features:

Hard media variants:
Corel Painter 11 introduces a range of 40 new hard media variants suitable for drawing and sketching. The new variants are available in a variety of brush categories, including Acrylic, Blenders, Chalk, Colored Pencils, Conte, Erasers, Pastels, Pencils, Pens, Sumi-e, Watercolor, and the new Markers.

Custom hard media variants:
With the new Hard Media palette,
users can create their own hard media variants. The palette provides a preview window and several controls so that users can fine-tune variants to meet their personal specifications, including dab profiles, sizes, transition range, stroke width, and tilt angle.

Customizable Rendering markers:
Corel Painter 11 offers new markers specifically designed to emulate real-world rendering markers.

Like all Painter media, these markers take full advantage of tablet tilt so that artists can vary the width of the marker stroke by adjusting the angle of their pen. In addition, users can customize how the media dries on the canvas which makes it easier to blend colors while rendering.

Marker buildup: The new marker variants let users control color buildup, just like real-world counterparts. The first stroke produces an even distribution of color. As additional strokes are applied, the color begins to build and darken.

Redesigned Colors palette: the Colors palette has been redesigned so that all color controls are on one palette. The sliders from the former Color Info palette have been added, making it easier to adjust colors. Users can choose to show or hide both the color wheel or the color information sliders, providing more space for the tools they use most frequently.

In addition, as users hover over the color wheel, a new tooltip provides accurate color values for the currently selected color. What’s more, the Colors palette is now resizable by up to 800 pixels in width, providing a better view of all available colors.

The original Mixer palette (left); and the enlarged Mixer palette (right)
This makes it easier for artists to accurately choose the exact color they need.

Resizable Mixer palette: The Mixer palette is now resizable by up to 1600 pixels in width, providing more space for mixing custom colors. As the palette is resized, the Brush Size slider will expand in width to give users more control and accuracy.

Enhanced features:

Additional mixer swatches: Users can now add mixer
swatches to the Mixer palette, increasing their options when creating custom colors.

Velocity control: Corel Painter 11 gives pen tablet users more
control over media deposits. As users increase their pen speed, thin brush strokes with less ink are applied. Conversely, a slower pen speed will result in thicker brush strokes and more ink deposited on the canvas.

Color Management: the Color Management interface has been redesigned and simplified. Users can more easily control color profiles when creating new files, opening existing Painter files, or opening other file types. This makes it easier to ensure accurate color representation when switching between applications or exchanging files with clients and colleagues.

Selection tools: the marquee tools are easier to handle, allowing for more nimble and precise selections. In addition, the enhanced Magic Wand more faithfully selects designated areas, while the new Polygonal Selection tool allows to produce straighter lines when making node-to-node selections.

Transform tool: all of the transform modes have been combined in a centralized tool, improving the ease and efficiency of transforming images. The new Transform tool offers convenient property bar buttons that let users quickly switch between the Move, Scale, Rotate, Skew, Distort, and Perspective Distortion modes.

Painter 11's toolset now includes new artistic media, hard media brushes (marker, pen, pencil, and chalk), and selection tools. Users can also create and customize brushes and media variants to meet their specifications. Among other optimizations, brushes have been improved to perform up to 30 percent faster than in previous versions.

Corel Painter 11 also adds pressure-sensitive brushes, as well as new selection tools, such as a Polygonal mode for its lasso tool. Additionally, the marquee tools and Magic Wand have seen improvements since the last software version.

With Painter 11, artists can expand their digital toolset with painting media designed to extend the capabilities of digital photography programs such as Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo and Adobe Photoshop. New color management improves color recognition when importing files from other applications and individual color profiles per document create greater color accuracy for each file.

Painter 11 offers the ability to experiment with color theory and composition much faster than in a traditional environment, and without the toxins and mess. There’s the option to undo brushstrokes and other effects.

So I'll be incorporating some of these new features in up and coming tutorials where we will be breaking some new ground and learning some versatility.

Until next time, Keep Painting!!

Soon offering downloadable tutorials on Painter X Tutorials

Hi Gang!
I trust everyone had a great Valentines Day!
I think I am going to start to offer downloads on the site. I will test them to see if they are purchased any more than the actual DVD that I mail.
Concerns of piracy and such is the reason I haven't offered them before now. So we'll see how it all goes.
I am also working on another tutorial that I plan to offer as a bonus to anyone purchasing a bundle. It is a rare photograph of Bettie Page. I'm going to cut her out of here suroundings and then put her on top of Red Satin.

Should be VERY cool!

Painter X Tutorial Bundle

I am happy to say that the tutorial bundle of Painter X Tutorials is now ready! It has been an uphill battle trying to get these tutorials done. A true labor of love.
At first, I tried to dump all the files to .avi format and that was just waaaaayyy too large. I actually purchased a brand new computer specifically for the tutorials because my older computer just buckled when I had Painter AND Camtasia on at the same time. So the .avi files ate up darn near all my new hard drive. And I was only half finished with the tutorials. So I relented and went ahead and put them into the .wmv file format
It is much more forgiving, not really lacking in quality as far as picture quality and sound quality. I'm very happy with the outcome so far.
And anyone who buys a bundle, or any of the other tutorials, I would like to get feedback on the whole experience. I highly value all my customers opinions.

I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays!
Thank you!

Painter X Tutorials On The Way

I'm finishing the production now on 4 tutorials:

Portrait in Oils

Full Body Bride

Girl with Flowers

Semi-Nude Woman in Bath

It has been a learning experience to say the least. I can only offer these tutorials unfortunately through DVDs. The Portrait in Oils tutorial is well over 8 gigs. I am using high quality AVI video files to give the most defined detail.

Thanks for reading,
Tim

New Painter Tutorials

I am almost ready to post the new painter tutorials on my site. It's been very hard toget these going. I got a new computer and am having to face a lot of technical issue but so far it is coming along.

I will have "Portrait in Oils", "Girl with Flowers", "Full Body Bride" and "Semi-Nude Woman in Bath" tutorials. I take the veiwer step by step throughout the whole prcess of the painting. From pulling it into Photoshop for the prep work and finally into Painter X for the full painting.

I don't have them up yet but I will by the end of the week.

It's been nerve racking and exciting all at the same time. Just one tutorial takes up multible gigs so I may have to include 2 DVDs instead of one in the package.

Quality stuff. The painting from start to finish.

I love Painter X!

Full Body Painting Tutorial

I am working now to complete a tutorial on painting a full body painting in Painter X. I went ahead and painted the example picture to see how it will turn out BEFORE I actually start recording the process. It has turned out beautifully!
I have already recorded the prep work done in Photoshop and that has turned out pretty well. Though I do hate the way I sound on audio. :(

Every time I work in Painter, I am happily reaffirmed that Painter is one of the most exciting programs I've ever seen or had the pleasure to work with.
